This picture used to have a little girl in the middle holding her Greek mythology book and staring at a large owl. The idea was that she fell asleep reading the myths and had fantastic dreams. In this one, a giant centaur has replaced her, and he and his friends are falling in love the the Dryads–tree nymphs.
I asked my friend, Stephen Ingram, to draw Medusa when she was little and already very naughty. I think it is wonderful how he created the snakes. She will have to grow into them.
Stephen was a runner-up in the SCBWI Tomie dePaola competition in 2013. You can see more of his work at http://stepheningram.com/
